Our mission is to serve as the region's lowest cost scenic fabricators producing professional, quality scenery on limited budgets. We are dedicated to assisting small, non-profit arts organizations and the next generation of technical theatre artist in achieving their scenic dreams.

Description:
We construct theatrical scenery and museum exhibits for over 25 non-profit arts, cultural and educational organizations throughout the Puget Sound Region. In addition to our summer Technical Internship Program, our educational and outreach program involves our professional staff going into local schools intermediate thru college and teach hands on technical theatre- scenic construction, scenic painting, lighting design, etc. to students on their own productions. We benefit a variety of organizations by providing a single resource of shop space, tools and expertise on building and installing scenery. Consistency ensures safety in construction and maintenance of stock scenery as well as the equipped shop.

History:
The scenic studios began in 2000 as a division of Northwest Asian American Theatre (NWAAT). There was a growing need for space and tools to construct scenery with the dozens of fringe to mid-sized theatres in Seattle and as funding sources depleted, the scenic studios and NWAAT's missions were no longer coherent. In 2002, the studios incorporated, filed for their own 501(c)(3) and became Seattle Scenic Studios. Since incorporating we have provided scenic services on over 70 productions including The Bruce Lee Collector's Exhibit by Inter*Im in which proceeds went to a low income housing project in the International District.
