The congregation of First Baptist Church, believing that God's unbounded love and grace are offered to all and meant to be shared and celebrated by all, embraces persons of every age, race, sexual orientation, denomination, cultural background and economic means as vital and integral members of God's family. We welcome everyone to participate in the membership, life, worship, and activities of this church.

Description:
The First Baptist Church was organized on December 9, 1812. The architecture of the church is Georgian. To give it the old colonial look, antique bricks were purchased from an old fort. It is an American Baptist Church. Denominational associations are The American Baptist Church of Massachusetts and American Baptist Churches. The sanctuary seats 750 people and is used for Sunday Worship services. Christian Education classes are also available. First Baptist enjoys an active Music and Arts department which includes voice and bell choirs, Phoenix Players, and many concerts throughout the year. Our sister church, Primera Iglesia Bautista, offers services in Spanish held in Davis Chapel.

History:
The First Baptist Church was the third parish to be established in the colonial town of Worcester. The people first met in a school house, and then built a small wooden structure at Salem Square that through the years was rebuilt to accommodate the congregation. In 1937, when the church was located at Main Street and Ionic Avenue, the church burned to the ground. Land was purchased from the estate of Mr. Aldus C. Higgins at the corner of Park Avenue and Salisbury Street.
