Epilepsy Foundation Northwest is the primary organization providing services to people of all cultural backgrounds in Washington and Oregon who are affected by epilepsy. Approximately 100,000 children and adults living in the two states have been diagnosed with seizure disorders. Our mission is to ensure that people with seizures are able to participate in all life experiences; and will prevent, control and cure epilepsy through services, education, advocacy and research.
Description:
Epilepsy Foundation Northwest provides critical services that aim to increase public awareness about the disorder and to advocate for those affected by it. These programs include, but are not limited to: seizure response training, emergency medication assistance, support groups, educational forums, and Camp Discovery for children with epilepsy and their siblings.
History:
Originally established in 1981 as the Epilepsy Foundation of Washington, Epilepsy Foundation Northwest is a private non-profit organization (Tax ID #91-1062461) and affiliate of the national Epilepsy Foundation. In 2004 the Oregon and Washington affiliates merged to form Epilepsy Foundation Northwest (EFNW).
