The Medic One Foundation's mission is to raise funds to support excellent pre-hospital emergency care. The Foundation is dedicated to saving more lives in the pre-hospital setting by ensuring that emergency medical care is medically appropriate, employs the most up-to-date procedures and is performed by qualified personnel.

Description:
By providing rigorous paramedic training, thorough and independent medical review, and targeted research on methods to improve patient outcomes, the Medic One Foundation has helped to make Medic One services in King County among the very best in the world. Medic One's lifesaving success is a direct result of the community's willingness to invest in rigorous paramedic training, targeted research and independent medical oversight of Medic One services - all made possible through charitable gifts to the Medic One Foundation. Community support of Medic One Foundation programs has resulted in:

  • A paramedic training program that is recognized world-wide for excellence.

  • An emergency medical services system studied by more than 55 U.S. states and international countries as a model for improvement, and

  • A survival rate for sudden cardiac arrest that is several times greater than the national average.

  • History:
The Medic One Foundation was established in 1974 by community and medical leaders in order to ensure that King County residents get emergency medical care, from a trained professional who knows how to save a life. While fire departments are responsible for ensuring a rapid response to a medical emergency, the Medic One Foundation ensures that the care is medically appropriate, employs the most up-to-date procedures and is performed by qualified personnel.
