Board Connections Position |
| Description: |
|
ArtsWest is looking to expand and diversify its board membership. We’re seeking people that either live or spend a great deal of time in West Seattle (our home) and have a passion for the arts. Experience on a nonprofit board is preferred, but passion, enthusiasm, and intelligence can supplant experience on many levels! The scope of activities change as the organization continues to grow and adolesce. ArtsWest produces artistic events so fiercely compelling that they require conversation, improve the imagination, and promote cultural vibrancy as a core value and business attractor for the communities of West Seattle. ArtsWest contains both a 149-seat theater and an intimate art gallery generally intertwined as a single, expansive artistic experience. As we include more participation opportunities for board experience, we also continually seek to define our core values, purpose, goals, and vision to enable us to both lead cultural engagement and respond to the needs of constituents and participants. In other words, we want people who can provide input, offer ambassadorial experiences, and financially lead ArtsWest to a higher level of achievement – and we welcome the opportunity to morph within our mission with that new input.

| Additional information about this position: |
|
We're looking to diversify the board's makeup and in doing so, diversify ArtsWest's message. We are not looking to "tokenize"; rather, we're looking for individuals with differing ages, backgrounds, and location, to introduce the work of ArtsWest to a greater set of publics. The involvement will be as much as the board member wishes, but at minimum, he or she serves on at least one committee. There is also a commitment to contribute at specific levels; that commitment letter is available upon request. |
