Position title: Board Position
Description: We welcome legal expertise (personnel), non-profit administrative expertise, fund development expertise, people from diverse backgrounds and people who are interested in adult literacy services that change lives. Literacy Source is a new (2001) stand-alone organization that has been in existence for almost 20 years as a direct service project. Our direct service instructional programs are excellent, innovative and successful, board leadership skills are needed to help us strengthen our infrastructure and assure that we will thrive; particularly in the financial, administrative and personnel areas.

The process for selecting or nominating members:
  • meeting with the Governance Committee
  • given basic information including the job description
  • Invited to attend a Board meeting
  • After the Board meeting asked if "still interested"
  • If interested, after the candidate has left the meeting the governance committee recommends candidate and all are asked to vote.
  • Candidate is given board manual and officially invited to join the Board
