Position title: Board Position
Description: The Board of Directors provides governance of the Foundation thereby maintaining consistency of philosophy, the Foundation's mission, strategic plan, processes, board-staff linkage, and the Board's relationship with the moral ownership of the organization. The moral ownership of the Foundation is the general public, which includes financial contributors and recipients of grants made by the Board. The Board governs on behalf of the publics not seated at the board table and ensures the financial viability of the organization by
a. Determining the short- and long-term financial development goals, and;
b. Providing leadership and commitment to achieve those goals.

The Board defines and provides leadership to assure effective governance of the Foundation via a commitment to contribute time, talent and treasure.

Responsibilities:
  1. Regularly attend quarterly Board Meetings.
  2. Participate on one of the Board's administrative committees.
  3. Participate on one of the Board's fundraising committees.
  4. Study the Foundation's enabling media of mission, by-laws, processes and procedures.
  5. Share personal and professional abilities.
  6. Recommend ideas that are relative to Board activities including quality assurance, research opportunities, EMS training improvements, fund acquisition, management, investment, process improvement, linkage between the Board and ownership as well as between the Board and staff.
  7. Contribute financially each year to the Medic One Foundation.
  8. Participate in the Foundation's fundraising programs to the extent possible including:
  9. Identifying and cultivating prospective donors.
  10. Supporting personal solicitation when appropriate.
  11. Planning, organizing and/or attending special events.
  12. Advocating the need for support to various publics.
  13. Develop knowledge on fundraising programs and giving opportunities.

Additional information about this position: Board meetings are informal with regular educational programs on various segments of our region's emergency medical services. Paramedics and fire departments are very supportive of Foundation fundraising and community relations activities.
