Forest Restoration Project - West Duwamish Greenbelt Working to protect our Environment

Help the Nature Consortium restore the West Duwamish Greenbelt,which is the largest remaining contiguous forest in Seattle! The greenbelt is over 500 acres of forest located on the eastern edge of West Seattle. We always need volunteers to help pull invasive species, mulch, and plant native plants and conifers.

Youth volunteers are welcome. Volunteer with your family. This is a service-learning opportunity.

Volunteers should be able to handle basic garden tools and be able to hike 7 to 10 min. to the restoration site. Minimum age for this opportunity is 13 years and older with guardian.

 This is our primary work site, but please RSVP, so that we may notify you if we are working at a different site, and then give you the correct directions to get there. Thanks! Directions to the trailhead at the corner of 14th Ave. SW & SW Holly St. in West Seattle. From I-5 or Route 99 (heading north or south): 1. Take the West Seattle Bridge exit off either highway. 2. From the bridge take the Delridge Way SW/South Seattle Comm. College exit (right hand exit) 3. The exit will wind around to the left & turn into Delridge Way, travel south on Delridge to the third light (follow signs to SSCC) 4. At light (just past the pedestrian overpass), turn left onto SW Oregon St. 5. Follow this hilly arterial street as it winds around and eventually makes a hairpin turn to the right and turns into 16th Ave. SW 6. Follow 16th Ave. SW and after _ mile SSCC will be on the left hand side 7. Three blocks past the college take a left on SW Myrtle St. 8. Take a left on 14th Ave. SW and follow until it ends at SW Holly St. – street parking should be available (Nature Consortium staff will be there to meet you.)
