 Organization: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society WA/AK Chapter Position: Light the Night Tele-recruiter Reports to: Light the Night Campaign Coordinator Dates of Position: June 15th – September 12, 2008 Time Commitment: 12-18 hours per week, during office hours. No weekend work required. Location: Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Offices Stipend: Unpaid Closing Date: June 15th, 2008 Background: Light the Night is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s national evening fundraising walk to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by cancer. Participants carry illuminated balloons as they walk- red balloons representing supporters, white representing survivors, and gold representing loved ones who have passed away. Money from Light the Night goes to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s mission of curing leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improving the quality of life of patients and their families. Position Summary: LLS is seeking a volunteer tele-recruiter to assist the Light the Night campaign coordinators to recruit and retain past participants, as well as contacting current/former patients and their families for the Light the Night walk. Duties and Responsibilities •Call past Light the Night participants to recruit for the 2008 walks in Alaska, the South Sound, and North Sound •Contact current and former patients and families to ask for their participation in the walk •Communicate accurate information to potential participants about the walk including dates, times, locations, fundraising, and any costs associated with participation •Communicate accurate information to potential participants about signing up for the walks online, and how to navigate the Light the Night website effectively Qualifications •Excellent oral/written communication •Ability to make cold calls •Strong organizational and time management skills •Compassion and sensitivity for calls to patients and families who have been affected by cancer or the loss of a family member or friend •Ability to work independently with limited supervision •Professional and personable demeanor at all times •Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment •Must have reliable transportation to and from The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society office •Must be able to fully commit to 12-18 hour per week for the duration of the position •Must be 18 and older to participate Benefits •Hands on experience working with a well-known and respected non-profit organization •Taking ownership of a vital portion of a successful fundraising campaign •Contributing to increasing the number of fundraising dollars generated to fund blood cancer research and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. •College credit or letter of recommendation if appropriate To Apply : please contact Beth Rosapepe at Beth.Rosapepe@LLS.org or call 206.957.4588
