Making the Jungle a Forest Again Working to protect our Environment
Last updated on June 26, 2008
Logo

We'll be removing invasive plants from the southern forested area of Dr. Jose Rizal Park and adjacent forested land, placing survival rings around trees and clearing the slopes for planting later this year with sword ferns and native trees.

So far, we've saved over 750 trees and other Northwest plants, while improving habitat for 48 species of birds and other wildlife. Besides helping the forest, you'll get to see one of the best views of Seattle and the Olympic Mountains, and find one of our city's park system's hidden jewels. Youth volunteers are welcome. This is a service-learning opportunity.

For more information, see our website at http://www.cityofseattle.net/BAN/jungle-1.htm

Volunteers should be in reasonably good shape, and wear sturdy shoes and work clothes appropriate to the woods and the weather.
