Be a Mentor - make a difference in the life of a teen Working as a mentor or tutor

Community for Youth programs transform high school students who are struggling - with school, with family, with their direction in life - into young adults with confidence, determination, and self-awareness. A new mentor who is also a graduate of our program said: "This program changed my life. I wouldn't be where I am today had it not been for this program". Another mentor said, "I joined this program to make a difference in the life of a teen. Instead, I have learned so much from the workshops that I have applied in my own life and my own relationships have improved dramatically since joining Community for Youth."

Volunteers are matched one-on-one with Seattle public high school students. Supported by a community of adult mentors who are relentlessly committed to their success, teenagers learn to make thoughtful choices, fulfill their commitments, acknowledge their mistakes and account for their actions. We ask volunteer mentors to make a commitment to one school year of regular weekly contacts with a student. Our program runs parallel with the school year, beginning in the fall and ending in June. Mentors receive prior training and on-going support and guidance. Please contact us at: (206) 325-8480 or info@communityforyouth.org. Make a difference as a mentor.

We require an initial training, background checks and reference checks. Mentors must be at least 21 years of age.
