Join EarthCorps and the City of Mercer Island Parks and Recreation Dept. in restoring this local park! This forested ravine hosts lush native plant habitat, wetlands, and walking trails. However, Island Crest Park is threatened by the spread of invasive plants, which uncontrolled, cover and kill trees, carpet the forest floor, and prevent the sprouting of tree seedlings. Volunteers are needed to help control these invasive plants, and preserve this unique open space! This fall the focus at Island Crest Park will be to plant native trees and continue site stewardship of previously restored areas. This project is part of a larger effort to restore Mercer Island Parks. Even working for just a few hours contributes greatly, and because you are working in a local park, you can revisit your work for years to come. Court-ordered community service volunteers are accepted. Youth volunteers are welcome.
The minimum age for this opportunity is 12 years and older.
