PSKS is an advocacy/ education center on Capitol Hill that provides basic needs as well as referrals for homeless and street involved youth and young adults.
Description:
We have many different programs where homeless participants can get involved. They are: 1) RISK Learning Program 2) HYPE Advocacy Center 3) SKIP, Street Kids intervention Program 4) LEAP, Lasting Employment Advancement Program 5) Stepping Stones, a case management Program. 6)Step Beyond, an after care program for youth and young adults that have transitioned. Participants also can serve on our board and be a core member. The center is set up with a family type value. The members/participants know they have ongoing support. HYPE Center Hours are as follows Sundays 1-4 pm and Fridays 1-6 PM. Stepping Stones Case Management Mondays 11-4 PM. RISK Hours are as follows: Tuesday-Fridays 11 AM- 5 PM. Step Beyond Hours are Tuesday's 6-8 PM.
History:
We were founded in 1995 in response to the homeless needs on Capitol Hill. We were incorporated in 1998 and became a 501(c)3 in 2000. This year we also became a United Way of King County partner. We opened our advocacy center in the fall of 2000.
