The mission of AARP Tax-Aide is to provide high quality, free, income tax preparation and efiling for low and middle-income taxpayers of all ages, with special attention to those age 60 and older.
Description:
AARP Tax-Aide is the largest, volunteer-run tax assistance and preparation service in the nation. Nearly 14,000 New Hampshire residents had their taxes prepared, free-of-charge, by an IRS-certified Tax-Aide volunteer counselor last year, and those residents received nearly $17 million in federal income tax refunds and stimulus payments.
History:
AARP Tax-Aide was founded in Washington, D.C. in 1968 and today, approximately 32,000 Tax-Aide volunteers staff more than 7,000 sites and assist over 2 million taxpayers each year across the U.S., all at no cost to the taxpayer.

During the tax season, from Feb 1 through April 15, Tax-Aide's management team is headquartered at the AARP Information Center which is located at 118 No Main St, directly across the street from the NH State Capitol Building.
