The Senior Community Services Employment Program, SCSEP, was authorized by Congress in 1965 as a U.S. Dept. of Labor Title V program to provide subsidized, part-time community service work based training for lower-income persons 55 and over who have poor employment prospects due to: age, isolation and / or a lack of current job skills.
SCSEP is a participant centered program designed to provide and promote useful work experience opportunities for income eligible persons aged 55 or better and to facilitate the transition of job-ready participants into unsubsidized employment in public organizations and private-sector businesses and industries.
Workers are matched to jobs in voluntarily participating organizations or companies and their progress and performance are followed by program monitors. Follow-up with persons supervising SCSEP workers and with the workers provides ongoing channels for support, training, correction and advocacy.

nashua humane society. my volunteer experience was wonderful! i worked with the feral cat program which is a trapping- spay- release program. I also have volunteered for the united way back in the 1970's. MY experiance with the animal shelter was so rewarding yet disturbing to see all the poor feral homeless cats kittens. posted by jgrigas5@comcast.net on November 5, 2008 |
