The Kearsarge Children's Center's mission is to provide a warm, safe and supportive environment that allows for creative and physical growth, socialization, and intellectual stimulation while fostering autonomy and a feeling of self-worth.
Description:
The Kearsarge Children's Center, Inc. (Center)is a private, licensed, 501(C)3 non-profit agency. The Center was established in 1984 for the purpose of providing quality, licensed care to children ages 3-12 from Warner, NH and surrounding towns. The Center provides full day care, preschool, before and after school care and summer recreation programs.
History:
During the spring of 1983, the United Church of Warner Mission Committee met to discuss ways to assist single parents. Reliable, quality child care was the number one need. As a result of this meeting, the original founders of the Center began investigating the possibility of starting a non-profit Center. Over the next two years there were multiple meetings, feasibility studies and fundraisers held. In April of 1984, The Kearsarge Children's Center, Inc. became incorporated as a non-profit corporation, established to provide quality care 5 days a week from 7 A.M. to 6 P.M. By June of 1984, a Board of Directors was established, the first meeting held and the officers elected. The Center officially opened on September 17, 1984. The Center was originally licensed for 18 children, ages 2-6, but is now licensed for 38 children, ages 3-12. There are normally between 45-55 children enrolled at any given time.
