The mission of New Hampshire Healthy Kids is to provide access to affordable quality health coverage for New Hampshire's uninsured children. Our vision is for every child to go to school healthy and ready to learn. Our philosophy is to promote healthy lifestyles, encourage preventive health and dental care, treat illness early and manage chronic health conditions. We value our partners, without them Healthy Kids would be an unrealized dream. We value our children, they are the future.
Description:
NH Healthy Kids is a 501c(3) nonprofit organization that provides access to low cost and free health insurance for uninsured, eligible children in the state of New Hampshire. WE provide outreach and technical support to community application sites who assist families directly in applying for assistance.
History:
NH Healthy Kids is a creation of the 1993 NH State Legislature. The non profit was started with $240,000 of seed money, and the board is structured by statute. In the early years we created partnerships with all 26 NH hospitals, Primary Care Providers, and the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services. We also contracted with Anthem, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and Northeast Delta Dental to provide benefits. In 1997, NH Healthy Kids was chosen by the state to manage and coordinate the SCHIP (State Children's Health Insurance Program) program in the state of NH. We have served over 80,000 children and pregnant women.
