To serve the people of New Hampshire with diligence, independence and integrity by performing the duties of the Attorney General as the State's chief legal officer and chief law enforcement officer; including protecting the rights of its consumers.
Description:
The Consumer Protection and Antitrust Bureau protects consumers from unfair and deceptive business practices in New Hampshire. The staff of the Consumer Protection and Antitrust Bureau take phone calls from 8 am to 5 pm each day. While this Bureau cannot offer legal advice, we can often offer suggestions to help resolve complaints between consumers and businesses, and we have a list of referral offices that are helpful with specific types of complaints
History:
Since 1992, the Bureau has enlisted and trained qualified non-lawyer volunteers as Consumer Affairs Specialists, working under the supervision of the Bureau's paralegals and attorneys. Volunteers answer telephone inquires, provide referrals and informational brochures to callers, and mediate consumer complaints on various issues.
