 Help with the care and feeding of Harbor seal pups that are sick, injured or abandoned. Volunteer duties will also include significant amounts of cleaning in animal rooms and the food preparation area. Shifts will vary between 2 hours one early morning or one late evening per week or 4 or 8 hours one day per week. Volunteer opportunity begins May 1, 2008 and ends August 31, 2008 Volunteers must be 18 years of age,and able to lift 50 pounds. Potential volunteers are required to attend a harbor seal pup orientation/training session (TBD)or a personal interview can be arranged if unable to attend training session. Volunteers will need to volunteer one shift per week. This opportunity is sponsored by: Marine Animal Rehabilitation Center (MARC)

Take the Maine Turnpike (I-95) to Exit 32 (Biddeford). After the tollbooth, turn left at the traffic light intersection onto Route 111 (Alfred Street). Staying in the right lane to the intersection of Route 1, take a left onto Route 1 from the right-hand lane, and then an immediate right as Rt. 111 branches off to the right. Then continue to the next traffic light. Turn right onto Route 9/208 (Pool Street). Follow Route 9/208 approximately 4 miles to the University of New England sign on your left. Turn left at the sign to enter the campus. We are located in the Marine Science Education and Research Center. |
