Community Investment Volunteer
Last updated on October 10, 2008

The United Way of Greater Portland is currently searching for volunteers to serve on its Community Investment Teams. The primary role of the Community Investment Teams is to make funding recommendations for the programs and services that will most effectively and efficiently address our community’s health and human service needs.

Community Investment is a unique citizen review process, in which representatives from throughout the community serve on volunteer teams which review applications for program funding. During the review process, volunteers analyze program quality and effectiveness, fiscal strength, financial need and agency management, and make funding recommendations within the context of community needs.

No experience is required - Volunteers are offered training sessions to help them prepare for their role and are invited to attend periodic round tables to become more informed about specific service areas and current issues. Community Investment Teams meet weekly, on a set night (4-6 pm), from February through April and as needed during the rest of the year. PLEASE NOTE: Review meetings take place at agency sites throughout Greater Portland.
