Pathfinders: Support for grieving children was founded in 1994 by Maria Brountas, a first grade teacher at Vine Street School and the late Barbara Eames. Pathfinders was founded on the premise that no child should grieve alone. Pathfinders relies on volunteer facilitators for its 2, 10-week sessions that are held during the year. Current facilitators find the experience very rewarding. Facilitators are asked to commit to an entire session (a session is ten weeks).
Comprehensive training is required for new facilitators and provided by Bangor Area Visiting Nurses/Hospice of Eastern Maine. Trainings are held at Bangor Area Visiting Nurses' Conference Room, Eastern Maine Healthcare Mall, Union Street in the spring and fall each year. Please call our office for dates, 973-8269.
