Volunteers: We encourage you to register and complete a volunteer profile so you can receive email alerts about opportunities you would like. Click here to register.

Non-Profits: Register your group’s volunteer and donation needs so you can receive email alerts about matches to help you. Agencies and organizations, click here to register.

VT-ENGAGE reaffirms Virginia Tech’s commitment to service worldwide and helps people actively live out its motto, Ut Prosim, That I May Serve – established in 1896.

Montgomery Museum and Lewis Miller Regional Art Center, Inc. is a nonprofit association that collects, preserves, and presents the history of Montgomery County, Virginia and the region, by collecting artifacts, documents, oral histories and other cultural, social, artistic, technological, political, economic, and scientific objects, and preserves, and interprets them to the public through exhibitions, museum tours, educational programs, lectures, community events, publications and an informational web site. Operation of the museum includes operation of the Lewis Miller Regional Art Center in order to promote an understanding of the role of art and artists in American culture through collection, conservation, exhibition, research, scholarship, and education. This area of the center maintains a gallery for past and contemporary artists to exhibit their conceptual, abstract, illustrative, traditional, and folk art. Also central to the museum and art center is the operation of a library and archive of historic information and historic papers for the use of historians, genealogical researchers, and other interested persons. The corporation may also acquire properties for the purpose of historic preservation, and/or for the expansion of the museum and art center, in order to maintain a viable and dynamic facility to aid in understanding our heritage and cultural aspects of the region.

Description:
The Montgomery Museum and Lewis Miller Regional Art Center is in the house built as the Presbyterian Manse about 1852. The American and Flemish bond brickwork is made with bricks fired on site. The museum celebrates our county's complex past with exhibits about the several towns and communities in the county, local business and industry, and much more. Our Rotating Exhibit Room changes regularly and has recently hosted exhbits on such diverse topics as the local men involved in the early history of NASCAR racing, the history of the important African American school, Christiansburg Industrial Institute, and a clothing exhibit featuring clothing and accessories from the late 1800s and early 1900s. In addition the museum contains both historic and contemporary artwork. A focus of our collection is Lewis Miller, a nineteenth century folk artist who visited and later lived in Christiansburg and dipicted many scenes in Montgomery County. We also sponsor frequently changing exhibits by regional artists.
