Virginia Tech created a new volunteer program called VT-ENGAGE to encourage volunteerism and enhance the relationship and partnership efforts between the university and the community. United Way and VT-Engage are community partners in an effort to match volunteers with organizations needing volunteer help by utilizing an online system called Volunteer Solutions. You can use Volunteer Solutions to find volunteer opportunities and/or post the volunteer needs of your group. Volunteers: We encourage you to register and complete a volunteer profile so you can receive email alerts about opportunities you would like. Click here to register. Non-Profits: Register your group's volunteer and donation needs so you can receive email alerts about matches to help you. Agencies and organizations, click here to register. VT-ENGAGE reaffirms Virginia Tech's commitment to service worldwide and helps people actively live out its motto, Ut Prosim, That I May Serve – established in 1896. If you live outside the New River Valley area, simply enter the zip code of your community in the U.S. and opportunities listed closest to you will be listed.

Our mission is to provide each person space to experience God through our ministry, facilities and programs. We focus on outdoor adventure activities that shape the whole person, physically, mentally, socially and spiritually.
Description:
Camp Alta Mons is an 850 acre playground located in scenic southwest Virginia. It is owned and operated by the Roanoke District of the United Methodist Church. Alta Mons is a modern camp and retreat center offering a wide variety of programs including outdoor education, team building exercises, swim lessons, children's summer camp, mission service opportunities in the community and year-round retreat and gathering facility options. We focus on teaching youth and adults about Christian living by providing space through our facilities, programs and service. We have about 4 miles of trails (expandable) and a 45 foot water fall. Many people enjoy coming and hiking. We always need volunteers for stream cleanup, trail building, mapping, building, program development and more. We are actively involved with the community including, local Boy and Girl Scout councils, emergency services, providing emergency housing and are also an open park in the Shawsville/Alleghany Springs region of Montgomery County.
