Virginia Tech created a new volunteer program called VT-ENGAGE to encourage volunteerism and enhance the relationship and partnership efforts between the university and the community.

United Way and VT-Engage are community partners in an effort to match volunteers with organizations needing volunteer help by utilizing an online system called Volunteer Solutions.  You can use Volunteer Solutions to find volunteer opportunities and/or post the volunteer needs of your group.

Volunteers: We encourage you to register and complete a volunteer profile so you can receive email alerts about opportunities you would like. Click here to register.

Non-Profits: Register your group's volunteer and donation needs so you can receive email alerts about matches to help you. Agencies and organizations, click here to register.

The Giles County Historical Society provides a repository, research, and educational museum complex for people interested in the history of Giles County.

Description:
The Giles County Historical Society's Museum Complex includes the 1829 Andrew Johnston House, 1857 Doctor's Office, Research Library, and Museum buildings. The objectives of the Historical Society are:

  1. To provide a repository for Giles County family histories, documents, and artifacts; to perpetuate interest in the history of Giles County; and to assist those interested in genealogical research;
  2. To assemble, provide, and present local historical facts to the youth of the area in cooperation with the County and neighboring school systems and organizations;
  3. To provide and maintain access by the public to the Museum Complex;
  4. To voice concerns and pursue the preservation of any and all endangered Giles County history, including artifacts, sites, and records
