VT Engage Logo

Virginia Tech created a new volunteer program called VT-ENGAGE to encourage volunteerism and enhance the relationship and partnership efforts between the university and the community.

United Way and VT-Engage are community partners in an effort to match volunteers with organizations needing volunteer help by utilizing an online system called Volunteer Solutions.  You can use Volunteer Solutions to find volunteer opportunities and/or post the volunteer needs of your group.

Volunteers: We encourage you to register and complete a volunteer profile so you can receive email alerts about opportunities you would like. Click here to register.

Non-Profits: Register your group's volunteer and donation needs so you can receive email alerts about matches to help you. Agencies and organizations, click here to register.

VT-ENGAGE reaffirms Virginia Tech's commitment to service worldwide and helps people actively live out its motto, Ut Prosim, That I May Serve – established in 1896.

If you live outside the New River Valley area, simply enter the zip code of your community in the U.S. and opportunities listed closest to you will be listed.

The Radford Clothing Bank provides good used clothing in an attractive, inviting atmosphere. This service is provided for persons in need who reside in the New River Valley.

Description:
Volunteers from fourteen Fairlawn/Radford churches maintain and operate the Clothing Bank in downtown Radford. New River Valley residents who are in need (e.g., who qualify for food stamps or Medicaid, Women's Resource Center clients, etc.) may shop for free clothing. Anyone else may select clothing in return for a small donation.

The Clothing Bank also houses the Stork Exchange, where anyone may "borrow" maternity clothes, baby clothes, baby equipment and furniture.

In late summer, needy Radford children enjoy the August Kids and Coats for Kids event: School children receive a wardrobe of new school clothing and a coat or two--used and freshly dry cleaned, or new.
