VT Engage Logo

Virginia Tech created a new volunteer program called VT-ENGAGE to encourage volunteerism and enhance the relationship and partnership efforts between the university and the community.

United Way and VT-Engage are community partners in an effort to match volunteers with organizations needing volunteer help by utilizing an online system called Volunteer Solutions.  You can use Volunteer Solutions to find volunteer opportunities and/or post the volunteer needs of your group.

Volunteers: We encourage you to register and complete a volunteer profile so you can receive email alerts about opportunities you would like. Click here to register.

Non-Profits: Register your group's volunteer and donation needs so you can receive email alerts about matches to help you. Agencies and organizations, click here to register.

VT-ENGAGE reaffirms Virginia Tech's commitment to service worldwide and helps people actively live out its motto, Ut Prosim, That I May Serve – established in 1896.

If you live outside the New River Valley area, simply enter the zip code of your community in the U.S. and opportunities listed closest to you will be listed.

Blacksburg Neighborhood Services seeks to empower resident's quality of life through public discussion. Through monthly networking at the Town Gown Community Relations meetings, neighborhood planning networks of community groups and organizations develop joint best practices together addressing common community concerns.

Description:
Town Council of Blacksburg adopted the Neighborhood Enhancement Program (NEP) in July 1999 due to citizen recommendations. The program proactively educated citizens on quality of life issues and initiated preservation programs stabilizing increased communication, coordination, citizen involvement, citizen problem solving, and hosts today a sense of stewardship among the residents. NEP transitioned to Housing and Neighborhood Services where it continues to host monthly discussions to identify concerns and develop solutions together that reinforce neighborhood preservation and quality of life. In these meetings, every representative does his or her part to address neighborhood issues through functions of their own organizations. All initiatives share the unified goal of enhancing the health, safety, and welfare of Blacksburg's citizens. Please join us in our monthly Town Gown Community Relations meetings the 4th Thursday of each month, 7:00 pm at VT Graduate Life Center and become a part of the solution.
