Virginia Tech created a new volunteer program called VT-ENGAGE to encourage volunteerism and enhance the relationship and partnership efforts between the university and the community.

United Way and VT-Engage are community partners in an effort to match volunteers with organizations needing volunteer help by utilizing an online system called Volunteer Solutions.  You can use Volunteer Solutions to find volunteer opportunities and/or post the volunteer needs of your group.

Volunteers: We encourage you to register and complete a volunteer profile so you can receive email alerts about opportunities you would like. Click here to register.

Non-Profits: Register your group's volunteer and donation needs so you can receive email alerts about matches to help you. Agencies and organizations, click here to register.

VT-ENGAGE reaffirms Virginia Tech's commitment to service worldwide and helps people actively live out its motto, Ut Prosim, That I May Serve – established in 1896.

Beans and Rice, Inc. improves the economic well-being of low-moderate income families through community education and asset development programs.

Description:
Community education programs include community learning centers located in low-income housing complexes, K-5 after school enrichment programs, youth development, and adult GED preparation and workforce development classes.

Asset development programs consisit of Individual Development Accounts and Handy Youth. These programs help families become first-time homeowners, pay for post-secondary education, and start or expand micro-enterprises. Youth develop pre-employment skills while saving money to support their educational goals.
