VT Engage Logo

Virginia Tech created a new volunteer program called VT-ENGAGE to encourage volunteerism and enhance the relationship and partnership efforts between the university and the community.

United Way and VT-Engage are community partners in an effort to match volunteers with organizations needing volunteer help by utilizing an online system called Volunteer Solutions.  You can use Volunteer Solutions to find volunteer opportunities and/or post the volunteer needs of your group.

Volunteers: We encourage you to register and complete a volunteer profile so you can receive email alerts about opportunities you would like. Click here to register.

Non-Profits: Register your group's volunteer and donation needs so you can receive email alerts about matches to help you. Agencies and organizations, click here to register.

VT-ENGAGE reaffirms Virginia Tech's commitment to service worldwide and helps people actively live out its motto, Ut Prosim, That I May Serve – established in 1896.

If you live outside the New River Valley area, simply enter the zip code of your community in the U.S. and opportunities listed closest to you will be listed.

Montgomery County Emergency Assistance Program (MCEAP) attempts to meet the immediate, emergency, and temporary needs of the low-income, unemployed, elderly, and handicapped individuals of Montgomery County with food, clothing, household items, and financial assistance when other agencies cannot do so. Volunteers used extensively for program operations.

Description:
All applicants for service must be screened by NRCA (where MCEAP is housed and supported) or by MCEAP. MCEAP encourages and promotes the principles of accountability, responsibility, and self-sufficiency. MCEAP coordinates its programs with all major social service agencies in the county and seeks to serve as a clearinghouse of information for their area of service with these agencies as well as area churches. An emergency fund is established for temporary financial assistance in such areas as rent payments, food, fuel and utility payments, medical bills, etc. All payments are made directly to the vendor.
