Virginia Tech created a new volunteer program called VT-ENGAGE to encourage volunteerism and enhance the relationship and partnership efforts between the university and the community. United Way and VT-Engage are community partners in an effort to match volunteers with organizations needing volunteer help by utilizing an online system called Volunteer Solutions. You can use Volunteer Solutions to find volunteer opportunities and/or post the volunteer needs of your group. Volunteers: We encourage you to register and complete a volunteer profile so you can receive email alerts about opportunities you would like. Click here to register. Non-Profits: Register your group's volunteer and donation needs so you can receive email alerts about matches to help you. Agencies and organizations, click here to register. VT-ENGAGE reaffirms Virginia Tech's commitment to service worldwide and helps people actively live out its motto, Ut Prosim, That I May Serve – established in 1896. If you live outside the New River Valley area, simply enter the zip code of your community in the U.S. and opportunities listed closest to you will be listed.

Big Brothers Big Sisters seeks to make a positive difference in the lives of children by promoting their self esteem, expanding their awareness of life's opportunities, and providing them with guidance and support through a one-on-one relationship with a caring adult.
Being a Big is easy! It means being yourself and sharing the best part of yourself with a friend. It means a chance to gain a new friend, and see the world-and be seen- through fresh new eyes.
No matter where you are in life, being a Big will make it even better.
