VT Engage Logo

Virginia Tech created a new volunteer program called VT-ENGAGE to encourage volunteerism and enhance the relationship and partnership efforts between the university and the community.

United Way and VT-Engage are community partners in an effort to match volunteers with organizations needing volunteer help by utilizing an online system called Volunteer Solutions.  You can use Volunteer Solutions to find volunteer opportunities and/or post the volunteer needs of your group.

Volunteers: We encourage you to register and complete a volunteer profile so you can receive email alerts about opportunities you would like. Click here to register.

Non-Profits: Register your group's volunteer and donation needs so you can receive email alerts about matches to help you. Agencies and organizations, click here to register.

VT-ENGAGE reaffirms Virginia Tech's commitment to service worldwide and helps people actively live out its motto, Ut Prosim, That I May Serve – established in 1896.

If you live outside the New River Valley area, simply enter the zip code of your community in the U.S. and opportunities listed closest to you will be listed.

The Mental Health Association of the New River Valley, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization that is dedicated to the promotion of mental health, the prevention of mental illnesses and the elimination of their stigma, and improved access to appropriate treatment. We work toward this mission through the provision of advocacy, public education, and direct services.

The Mental Health Association of the New River Valley offers a number of valuable programs and services. Among these are our Pro Bono Counseling Program which provides free mental health services to uninsured, low-income residents of the New River Valley; our Children of Divorce Seminar, designed to help separating or divorcing parents or caregivers support their children's emotional well being during and after the transition of a separation or divorce; our Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Program, a jail diversion program that aims to decriminalize mental illness by bringing together mental health professionals, law enforcement personnel, persons with mental illness, and invested community organizations to improve the ability of police officers to respond to individuals in crisis; and our Holiday Gift Drive which utilizes community donations to purchase and distribute holiday gifts to low-income mentally ill residents of the New River Valley.
