Virginia Tech created a new volunteer program called VT-ENGAGE to encourage volunteerism and enhance the relationship and partnership efforts between the university and the community.
United Way and VT-Engage are community partners in an effort to match volunteers with organizations needing volunteer help by utilizing an online system called Volunteer Solutions. You can use Volunteer Solutions to find volunteer opportunities and/or post the volunteer needs of your group.

Patient and Family Support Volunteer
 Good Samaritan Hospice has a need for adult volunteers who are willing to offer a caring heart and hand to people in the final stages of a life-limiting illness. Volunteers offer companionship, respite for family members, and practical help such as running errands or providing transportation. All patient and family support volunteers are required to attend our training classes. These are held in the spring and the fall. Family Support Volunteers must be 18 years old. They must also pass a background check and DMV check, paid for by GSH, as for those volunteering or working with vulnerable populations as regulated. Reliable transportation is vital.
