Virginia Tech created a new volunteer program called VT-ENGAGE to encourage volunteerism and enhance the relationship and partnership efforts between the university and the community. United Way and VT-Engage are community partners in an effort to match volunteers with organizations needing volunteer help by utilizing an online system called Volunteer Solutions. You can use Volunteer Solutions to find volunteer opportunities and/or post the volunteer needs of your group. Volunteers: We encourage you to register and complete a volunteer profile so you can receive email alerts about opportunities you would like. Click here to register. Non-Profits: Register your group’s volunteer and donation needs so you can receive email alerts about matches to help you. Agencies and organizations, click here to register. VT-ENGAGE reaffirms Virginia Tech’s commitment to service worldwide and helps people actively live out its motto, Ut Prosim, That I May Serve – established in 1896. If you live outside the New River Valley area, simply enter the zip code of your community in the U.S. and opportunities listed closest to you will be listed.

Welcome to Volunteer Solutions |
| Last updated on April 21, 2008 |
As a community builder for human services in the New River Valley, the United Way of Montgomery, Radford & Floyd (UWMRF) has an increasing need for resources to support these efforts. Such programs include the one you are using right now - Volunteer Solutions - and other volunteer support efforts, Information and Referral support, a growing Gifts in Kind program, a Prescription Medication Discount Card program, the FEMA Emergency Food & Shelter program, mental health support services in the aftermath of April 16, and others. A grant seeker and writer is needed to help us research and write successful grants for support of these programs. We currently subscribe to GrantStation which the volunteer/s would have access to in volunteering for UWMRF. You could volunteer from the comfort of your own home and be appreciated by MANY!!!
Volunteers would be asked to meet with the executive director to learn about the local United Way's community building programs and receive printed reference material. Prior experience with successful grant writing is a plus. A sincere interest in improving human services in the New River Valley is a must.
