Are you interested in serving your community in a meaningful way that utilizes many of your talents? The United Way of Montgomery, Radford & Floyd is in need of retired persons to fulfill "Giving Generation" Community Ambassador volunteer positions as soon as possible. These Ambassadors will play a crucial role in the local United Way's resource development and community building efforts by assisting United Way's small staff (4) and volunteer board in helping mobilize and educate the area's growing retiree community about United Way's role and impact in the community. The first "Giving Generation" Ambassadors will be establishing the program! They will provide experience, leadership, development, education, and networking to the local United Way. Ambassadors will inform United Way of recently retired individuals and those who have moved into our community who are good candidates to become donors and get involved in helping the human services network. Giving Generation Ambassadors will be required to learn about the local United Way through an orientation. A sincere desire to improve the human condition in our LOCAL community is a must. Ambassadors will occasionally need to meet to discuss new ideas and strategies with each other, including additional leaders and how they want to organize. Volunteers must have leadership qualities and be comfortable meeting new people; they need to have their own reliable transportation; be able to speak to small groups of people if necessary (10-25), and work independently. A volunteer job description is available on request - it can be e-mailed. This opportunity is sponsored by: United Way of Montgomery, Radford & Floyd We need volunteers who are free at these times
