The mission of RSVP is to provide meaningful volunteer opportunities to people, ages 55 years and older that enrich both the volunteer and the community they serve.
Description:
RSVP of Central CT provides a variety of volunteer opportunities to retirees and seniors in the Meriden and Wallingford area as well as Southington, Berlin and New Britain. Volunteer opportunities range from very involved to sporadic work depending on the desires of the volunteer. RSVP volunteers are involved in friendly visiting, health services, child and adult literacy and much more. Volunteer opportunities require a variety of skills and afford a retiree a chance to meet new people, learn new things and use a lifetime of experiences. All volunteers are automatically covered by our supplemental liability insurance, can participate in our recognition events and receive mileage reimbursement.
History:
RSVP of Central CT is a federal program under the Corporation for National and Community Service. This particular office began in 1973 in New Britain and has expanded to include 5 towns and hundreds of volunteers. The purpose of this program is to match senior citizens with volunteer opportunities in their neighborhoods.
