MidState VNA and Hospice is committed to helping people optimize their health and self-management by providing caring and quality home and community services throughout central Connecticut.

Description:
MidState VNA and hospice is a non-profit, community based home health agency that is licensed by the State of Connecticut, certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and accredited by the Community Health Accreditation Program (CHAP). The staff of MidState VNA and Hospice provide a wide array of services 24 hours per day, 365 days a year to individuals recovering from surgery or illness, those in need of personal care and families facing facing the final months of a terminal illness. In addition to skilled nursing care, rehabilitation therapy, social services and home health aides/homemakers, this agency provides specialized diabetic, wound, ostomy, diabetic and psychiatric nursing care. MidState VNA's hospice program is a licensed and Medicare certified provider of multidisciplinary care at home and other settings. Prevention and screening programs such as flu vaccinations, blood pressure and cholesterol screenings and TB testing are also available. An in-home emergency response system is also available through this agency.


History:
MidState VNA and Hospice's roots begin in 1907 when the "Meriden Anti-Tuberculosis Association" was established. Although the name of the organization has changed throughout the years...Meriden Public Health Association to the Meriden Public Health and Visiting Nurse Association to VNA Home Care Services of Meriden and finally the current MidState VNA and Hospice, its mission has stayed closed aligned with the needs of the communities of greater Meriden.
