The mission of the Nurturing Families Network is to work in partnership with first-time parents facing the challenges of parenthood by enhancing their strengths, providing education and creating community connections. The vision of the Nurturing Families Network is that every child be raised within a nurturing environment.
Description:
Nurturing Connections is a mentoring program that provides support to first time families in Meriden, Wallingford, and Cheshire. Trained volunteers are linked to a first time parent to provide support. Nurturing Connections is looking for volunteers for at least 6 months and is over the age of 18. We will provide training and on going supervision on a monthly basis.
History:
Nurturing Connections; formerly known as "First Steps" has been providing services in Meriden and Wallingford for five years. It is a statewide program funded by the Children's Trust Fund.
