The purpose of the Creative Arts Guild is to build an maintain an environment supportive or the arts in Northwest Georgia through education and promotion in order to create new audiences, develop intracommunity relations, support artists and provide our residents the opportunity for creative and cultural experiences.

Description:
The Creative Arts Guild is the Dalton/Whitfield Commission for the Arts. The Guild offers classes in visual art, music, beginning, intermediate and pre-professional dance and ballet, and gymnastics. Two visual arts galleries host exhibits with monthly First Friday artist receptions. The regions only Fine Arts and Craft FESTIVAL is held annually on the third weekend of September on the Guild's grounds and galleries with artists displaying their work in both indoor and outdoor exhibits. The Creative Arts Guild, along with the O.N. Jonas Foundation, local School Systems and individual school PTA's provide arts experiences for student in Dalton Public, Whitfield County and Murray County schools. Through the Artist In Schools program professional performing artists, visual artists and musicians visit each of the schools multiple times during the academic year. A free noontime concert, Noon Arts, is held the third Thursday of the month in the Guild's Gallery October - July, audiences may bring a sack lunch or pre order a box lunch to pick up prior to the concert. Ballet Dalton and the Guild's lower dance school present "The Snow Queen" ballet the weekend before Thanksgiving each year. Various other visual and performance opportunities are offered, many free.

History:
The Creative Arts Guild is the oldest local commuinity arts agency in the state of Georiga. The Guild was incorporated in 1963 and is a 501 (c) 3 organization. The Creative Arts Guild was orginally housed in the old Firehouse on Pentz Street. In 1981 the present facility at 520 West Waugh Street was built entirely with local funds and was paid for before the building was occupied.
