The purpose of the coalition is to plan, network, coordinate and oversee the delivery of services to the homeless in the six county area including Bay, Washington, Jackson, Gulf, Holmes, and Calhoun counties.
Description:
The coalition holds monthly meetings for member agencies to share information about local resources for mutual clients. It also acts as a liaison to the general public to create awareness of the homeless needs in our local community. It's main project is the Homeless Day Resource Center, managed by Catholic Charities. This project coordinates with the day respite center in the Panama City Rescue Mission. Clients are offered case management and referrals according to their specific needs to help them achieve self sufficiency.
History:
The coalition was originally formed as the Bay County Coalition in the late 80's but was expanded in the early 90's to include the other five counties. Agency networking was greatly expanded in 2003 with the creation of the Homeless Management Information System made possible through state and federal grant funding.
