The Mission of St. Andrew Bay Center is to provide supports and opportunities for adults with disabilities to choose and participate in valued adult activities within the community.
Description:
All of the services provided by St. Andrew Bay Center are designed around individual needs to provide opportunities for individuals to become as self sufficient and independent as possible. Our Adult Day Training Program is our largest program area supporting over 100 adults. Their desire is to learn the skills necessary to earn a paycheck and to live as independently as possible. The ADT program also offers a variety of training designed to increase independent living skills. Community, recreational and social skills training is also a component of this program. Our Supported Employment Program offers individuals an opportunity to broaden their employment skills and become a tax-paying citizen by obtaining and maintaining jobs in our business community. Our employment specialists support this desire by assisting in all phases of training so that successful employment is achieved for all individuals. Our Companion Service provides the opportunity that many individuals with disabilities are rarely afforded. This service assists individuals in accessing their community for recreation, shopping, or necessities as well as enjoying day to day activities.
History:
St. Andrew Bay Center was founded in the 1950's by parents to ensure that there were supports and services in place to make their children's dreams come true. Today St. Andrew Bay Center serves over 225 adults with disabilities through job placement, community activities, volunteerism and everyday living skills.
