VolunteerMaine!

The United Way of Aroostook County participates in the VolunteerMaine Partnership.  The partnership consists of the Maine Commission for Community Service, Maine Emergency Management Agency, 2-1-1 Maine, Inc., 10 United Ways in Maine, Maine Citizen Corps, Maine VOAD and the Board Network.  This web site is provided so that residents of our county may find volunteer opportunities.  Non profit organizations, government departments, schools and colleges may register on this site as agencies and list opportunities they have that require the service or area residents.  The United Way of Aroostook County assures that the agency is a legitimate non profit organization that uses volunteers in the accomplishment of its mission in providing services for Aroostook County.  Only the individual agency can ensure that you will have a successful volunteer experience.

The site provides ways for agencies and individuals to find Board and Committee assignments, in kind donations and most importantly - volunteers.  There is no fee for this service.  The United Way of Aroostook County does NOT act as a full service volunteer center with one to one matching services.  This is an on line referral service only.  It is up to the agency to interview, screen, place and support the volunteer.  It is up to the individual to search for an opportunity that meets his or her needs, contact the agency and follow through with training and placement requirements.
