The American Folk Festival on the Bangor Waterfront is a celebration of multi-cultural traditional arts - music, dance, crafts, food and storytelling.

Description:
The American Folk Festival will present music, dance and other performing arts representing cultural traditions from across America and the world, showcase and market the Bangor Waterfront, the greater Bangor area, Maine by attracting thousands of festival-goers each year, encourage community participation through volunteerism and attendance, ally the Festival's philosophy with the City of Bangor's mission, vision and objectives.

History:
In 2001, the National Council for Traditional Arts (NCTA) selected Bangor to host the 64th,65th,66th National Folk Festivals (NFF). Since the beginning of the NFF's tenure in Bangor, the Board of Directors and Producing Partners have planned for an event to continue on the Bangor Waterfront after the NFF moved onto it's next host community. In March 2004, the Bangor NFF organizers revealed plans for for a new event, The American Folk Festival on the Bangor Waterfront.
