Let's Help the Kids!
Last updated on May 7, 2008

Evergreen, the Pine Tree Hospice Center for Grieving Children and Their Families, is a new program of Pine Tree Hospice. Our mission is to reach out to grieving children and families, offering them a safe place to express their grief through a peer support model. We are actively seeking adults to be Peer Support Facilitators. Two facilitators are assigned to each group of children, who are grouped by age. This program is modeled after the Center for Grieving Children in Portland, who have been providing services to children for over 20 years.

Volunteers who are interested in this are provided a 28 hour experiential training, to help them gain understanding of the process of peer support. Volunteers are also asked to make a one year commitment, to allow for safety and continuity for the children participating.
