 United Way of Eastern Maine is currently hiring for an AmeriCorps*VISTA position within the VolunteerMaine Project. This is a full-time, one-year stipended position. See www.americorps.gov for more information on national service. Goals and objectives of the position are as follows:
- Targeted community members understand the full use of Volunteer Maine’s system (www.volunteermaine.org) with the outcome of increased volunteerism.
- Targeted non-profits benefit from Volunteer Management best practices, trainings and networks among those who utilize volunteers.
- United Way understands its role in the event of an emergency in Penobscot or Piscataquis counties and supports emergency entities in their ability to respond effectively to both natural and health events.
- Our community benefits from the addition of a fully participating VISTA as a member of the United Way of Eastern Maine staff, helping to further the mission of our organization of improving communities through a collaborative approach.
AmeriCorps*VISTA Members are required to attend a pre-service orientation through the Corporation for National and Community Service and will also undergo an on-site orientation. The member will attend numerous training and professional development opportunities and events during his/her year of service. If you are traveling on I 95 from the south, take exit 187, Hogan Road. Turn left off the exit at lights. Move to the right lane as you travel over the bridge and through the next set of lights. Turn right at next set of lights (Burger King is on your right) onto Springer Drive. Take the immediate left after service station entrance into our parking lot. Entrance to building is on side facing the service station. Take stairs to the right or the elevator on the left to the second floor. United Way of Eastern Maine is on the right.
From the North:
