Opening day is Saturday May 10, and then every Saturday morning, 7am to noon, rain or shine, in the Historic Court Avenue District (Downtown Des Moines) May through October

Iowa has more than 140 farmers markets. Iowa is ranked No. 4 in the country in the number of farmers markets and No. 1 in markets per capita.


History:
The Des Moines Farmers Market, sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred International, began in 1974. It started with 10 vendors and expanded to more than 200 each Saturday in 2002.
