The Historic Triangle Senior Center strives to enhance the health and overall well being of seniors in the Greater Williamsburg area.
Description:
The Senior Center provides social, educational, and recreational opportunities such as computer classes, trips, health fairs, and bridge clubs. The Center serves all seniors 55 and older who live in James City County, Williamsburg, and the Bruton District of York. The Center also administers the RIDES program which provides non-emergency medical transportation to seniors 55 and older and the disabled of any age. A $2 donation is requested for each one way ride; however, no one is turned away because of inability to pay. Volunteer drivers are needed.
History:
The Senior Center was founded 12 years ago by a group of grassroots advocates who wanted to ensure that seniors in our community have opportunities to age with grace and dignity. Most of the activities at the Center are free. The Center provides scholarships for those persons who need financial assistance to attend programs for which a fee is charged, such as computer classes.
