The Mission Statement is "To provide skilled, compassionate health care and counseling to the medically disadvantaged in a manner that honors the Name of Jesus Christ." The Vision is " A CENTER OF HOPE FOR TODAY AND ETERNITY.”

Description:
The Olivet Medical Ministry, Inc., operating as Lackey Free Family Medicine Clinic, is a faith-based non-profit organization that has been operating in York County, VA since 1995. It was founded to meet the unmet medical needs of the uninsured poor in the Greater Virginia Peninsula area. Using volunteer physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, dieticians, social workers and lay health workers, the Clinic provides free medical exams, free medicine, free dental services, social work and outpatient referral services for testing and surgery/treatment. The patients all fall below 200% of Federal Poverty Guidelines. In 2007, the Lackey Free Clinic provided over 5400 patient visits and provided services valued at over $4,000,000, all 100% free to the patients.

History:
The Clinic was started and Opened in April 1995 by Dr. Jim Shaw and his wife, Cooka, in the Sunday school room of Rising Sun Baptist Church in Lackey, York County. Clinic moved to Charles Brown Community Center, Lackey in October 1996. Clinic moved into its new 3150 sq ft building at 1620 Old Williamsburg Road, in Lackey in August 2003. We feel blessed and honored to be able to provide medical and dental care for those who have no resources to obtain this care, in a manner that demonstrates the love and compassion of Jesus Christ. This ministry is focused on restoring dignity to the impoverished and broken. Each of us that work in this ministry find that our own faith is strengthened by “celebrating the miracles” that we witness each day in the lives of patients treated at the Clinic.

We offer a Christ-based spiritual component to the total care program for out patients.

God has blessed the Lackey Free Clinic over the past thirteen years, through the hard work of our Board of Directors and dedicated volunteer physicians, nurses, dentists, dental assistants, pharmacists, administrative and facility maintenance assistants, as well as salaried administrative staff and financial donors. Together, with God’s help, we are providing quality healthcare and giving the patients an added value…a service that can touch their spiritual needs.
