MentorMatch Hampton/Willamsburg's mission is to provide role models for foster care and juvenile justice youth to help them transcend their cirmcumstances and become successful at home, in school, business and society.
Description:
MentorMatch Hampton/Williamsburg brings together adult volunteer mentors with foster care and juvenile justice youth for traditional one-one-one mentoring. Each match meets for two hours a week for one year and may participate in countless number of activities. MentorMatch Hampton/Williamsburg provides for the screening, training and supervising during the year of mentoring. Mentors must be adults (men or women) ages 18 and up who reside in the HamptonRoads/Williamsburg region. Mentees must be youth ages 8-18 who are presently in the foster care and juvenile justice system and reside in the Hampton Roads/Williamsburg region. MentorMatch Hampton. Two people. Two hours. One year. That's all we ask!
History:
MentorMatch Hampton/Williamsburg began in Richmond In April 2007 from a grant provided by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention as a mentoring program designed to provide role models for foster care and juvenile justice boys and girls in the regions where it's parent organization, Lutheran Family Services of Virginia, is located.
