We build decent, affordable, simple houses for God's children who by conventional means cannot afford a home.
Description:
We build houses in the Mower/Freeborn counties with partner families. We provide a new home for a 30 year, no interest mortgage, built by all volunteer labor and discounted building supplies. The home owner has to put in a specified amount of "sweat equity" (depending on the size of the family) and meet specific income guidelines to qualify for a home.
History:
Starting in 1991, Habitat for Humanity Freeborn/Mower has built 23 homes in Austin, Albert Lea, Adams, and Leroy. Starting in a rented one room office, we have moved to a new warehouse/office/meeting facility located at 800 7th Street NE in Austin, MN. We have developed a Restore which is a retail outlet for new and used building materials sold to the general public at discounted prices.

We are located at the corner of 7th Street NE and 8th Ave. NE in Austin, MN. We are just South of the Hormel Plant in a large steel beige building with dark green trim. Our sign and logo are on the end of the building.
