If you are in a season of your life when you could provide safety and security for a child 2-72 hours, please consider becoming a shelter home parent for Crisis Nursery. The purpose of Crisis Nursery is to strengthen families and prevent a family problem from becoming a child's problem. A shelter home can accept children from the placement time or refuse if they need to. There is no number of times a shelter home must take children in a year. Placements are from 2 hours to 72 hours. Many of our shelter homes work full time jobs and do the 72 hour placements from time to time on the weekends. We have licensed child care providers who are able to take children during the day of the week for placements. If you enjoy children and have any interest in becoming a licensed shelter home, please call 1-800-714-1416 or 507-434-9599 and ask for Heather Steinkamp, the Program Coordinator or Karen Emanuel, the Program Assistant
The home would need to go through the licensing process which is under the State of Minnesota Foster Care Rules. This opportunity is sponsored by: Parenting Resource Center
