Opportunity Village commits to excellence in service to individuals with disabilities.
Description:
Opportunity Village serves more than 560 individuals of all ages with a wide range of disabilities. Based in Clear Lake, the Village provides supports in over 30 communities around North Iowa. Services include such options as 24-hour care, occasional supports for adults living in the community, and in-home respite and training for children living with their families. Vocational and day services are available in Clear Lake and Garner. The Village is a leading provider in the State of Iowa, advocating for people with disabilities. Volunteers are an important part of our agency, and many options are available for volunteer opportunities. Volunteers may work at the Village General Store re-sale shop, help with special projects or events, become a special friend, and more.
History:
Opportunity Village began as a grassroots effort by local Clear Lake citizens who saw a need for an alternative to institutions for adults with disabilities. The Village was incorporated as a non-profit charitable organization in 1966 and opened its first home in 1971.
